'Music has the power to sooth the savage breast' - visit some of the world's most beautiful locations and learn about their history through their music.
Music has the unique capacity to make you sad, happy, smile, laugh and cry - and often within the same piece. With our music tours programme, we will introduce you to cities and places which have inspired great composers and musicians of all types and you can see this reflected in their music. Although we have a lot of programmes aimed at classical music enthusiasts, such as visits to Mozart's home city of Salzburg, the Vienna of the Strauss Family, Chopin's Warsaw, Verdi's Venice or Puccini's Verona to give just a few examples, our musical interests are spread much more widely and our musical tastes are much broader than just this. One of our favourite self-drive music tours starts in Atlanta in Georgia, runs north to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia with a stop in Chatanooga on the way. Then it is on to the home of country music, The Grand Ol' Opry in Nashville, then to Memphis and from Memphis down to jazz capital of the world, New Orleans.
If you have a particular musical interest, we are happy to create a tour itinerary for you to match. Another particular favourite is to visit the iconic Sydney Opera House, where in addition to seeing this magnificent building for the outside, we can organise a behind the scenes tour as well as dinner in the Opera House restaurant, followed by a concert in these unforgettable surroundings.
During the course of 2011 and 2012, it is our plan to organise a number of specific small group itineraries (maximum 16 people per programme) to visit some of the world's great musical cities. These itineraries will be created to show you the cities and help you get a better understanding for the music that flows from them. In most cases, these programmes will include a visit to a number of small and large concert performances. (NB: Unfortunately, whilst we can some times perform magic, this does not extend to being able to secure tickets for the world-famous New Year's Day Concert in Vienna !)
